Youth Tobacco Prevention

Minors should NEVER use tobacco products. This is a guiding principle and belief of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and all the operating companies of Reynolds American Inc. Retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers have a significant role to play in making sure that minors do not have access to tobacco products. In addition, parents and authority figures such as teachers, youth leaders and coaches play an important role in preventing tobacco use by youths.

Our objective is to lead change in our industry by contributing to the acceleration of the decline in youth tobacco use. We work to achieve this goal through corporate, educational and legislative initiatives.

Every state prohibits the sale of tobacco products to minors. Numerous programs operated at the national, state and local level – both publicly and privately funded – are focused on preventing youths from using tobacco products. Stakeholders are unified in their concerns about youth tobacco use; they expect R.J. Reynolds to be proactive in working to help prevent minors from using these products.

RAI and its operating companies support restrictions on access to vapor products as part of their youth tobacco prevention efforts. Click here to hear more.
